Peer Support Services
Peer Support Specialist
At TRobinson Family First, we take pride in our Peer Support Specialists, who provide a non-judgmental approach and meet clients where they are in their journey.
Our Peer Support team draws from their personal life experiences to inspire participants to take ownership of their recovery process. They assist in identifying obstacles to achieving goals, locating essential resources, and equipping participants with the tools and skills necessary to overcome challenges effectively.
The primary objective of a Peer Support Specialist is to provide empathetic support and guidance to individuals navigating challenges related to mental health, addiction, or other life struggles, leveraging their own lived experiences to foster trust, empowerment, and recovery.

Connecting to Resources:
Peer support helps people tackle key early recovery challenges, like finding stable housing, joining workplace readiness programs, and getting jobs. It also guides individuals through the treatment system, assists with admission to programs, and works closely with treatment staff to create solid discharge plans.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
Mentoring and Coaching:
Peers assist participants with tasks such as setting recovery goals, developing recovery action plans, and addressing issues directly related to recovery. This includes finding sober housing, building new friendships, discovering productive uses of free time, and improving job skills.
Build Community
Organize recovery-oriented activities that range from opportunities to participate in team sports to family centered holiday celebrations and sober get togethers. It provides a sense of acceptance and belonging, as well as the opportunity to practice new skills.
Facilitating & Leading Recovery Groups
The purpose of shared groups is to support, encourage and educate one another.
From sharing of personal stories and some degree of problem solving, our groups are structured as supportive and educational groups.
Topics include:
- Training in job skills
- budgeting and managing credit
- preventing relapse
- conflict resolution
